Snow was rare this winter, but that did not slow us down at The Avalanche Project! After the graduation of the 5 members of the team, there was a large restructuring. Nevertheless, the Mission has not changed: Allow everyone to enjoy Mountain Biking all year long!

MégaGÉNIALE Expo!

The 2015 MégaGÉNIALE expo was a real succes and the team want to thank all the visitors for their interest towards the Avalanche Project. The team also want to thank all the contributors which made possible the entire project.
Stay tuned, the team will release videos of the prototype testing in snow within the next few days!

The team is now working on the last details in order to present the final prototype to the MégaGÉNIALE Expo on december 2nd and 3rd. The image on the left shows the drive wheel of the propulsion system made of aluminum and carbon fiber.

The team is now back to university for summer and will be focusing on the detailed conception of the different concepts. Since the fabrication phase will start next fall, the team is looking for sponsors to support the fabrication costs. Donation of a bike frame by La Bécane

A generous contribution to the project was made by La Bécane. The contribution consits of a Norco Sight 1 2013 frame donation. The next steps of the prototype conception process will then be based on this light dual suspension aluminum frame.

Concept Selection

A lot of concepts emerged from the conceptual phase. These concepts were rigorously evaluated in function of the project's needs and one complete concept solution stood out of the lot. It consists of a bicycle driven by a track and equipped with an all new type of dual skis system in the front. The skis will be completely designed and built by the Projet Avalanche team.
Summer mountain bike characterization

In order to compare the future prototype performances with a summer downhill bike, some performances tests were made with a downhill bike equipped with accelerometers:
